MONTGOMERY, AL - The River Region is getting ready to welcome home some troops. Next week, the 187th Fighter Wing, located at the Montgomery Regional Airport, will welcome home about 220 unit personnel.

The men and women of the 187th have been serving their country from Balad, Iraq. They've been there for around 75 days.

The 187th personnel supported U.S. and coalition forces engaged in the fight on terrorism by providing F-16C assets that included the use of precision guided munitions. The 187th maintenance, support and operations personnel provided for round the clock operations and allowed the aviators to fly more than 2,500 combat hours and directly impact the war on terrorism.

The first group will arrive home at approximately 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 29, when unit pilots will return with 12 F-16 aircraft.

Another 38 members will arrive at approximately 5:30 p.m. later that afternoon.   On Wednesday, Sept. 30, 142 187th members will arrive at approximately 3:25 p.m.

The final group of 29 187th members will return on Friday, Oct. 2, 29 members will arrive at approximately 12:25 p.m.
