Auburn's October looking tougher

AUBURN, Ala. (AP) - The Auburn Tigers mostly breezed through September.

October brings much bigger challenges for the Tigers, starting with Saturday night's visit to Tennessee. Then come trips to Arkansas and No. 4 LSU, sandwiched around a home game against Kentucky.

The month ends with No. 21 Mississippi.

Auburn coach Gene Chizik said Sunday the Tigers will have to play better in all phases to have a successful month. Auburn beat winless Ball State 54-30 Saturday night.

The Tigers were favored in all four September games.

The month was mostly notable for an offensive revival. The Tigers' 181 points is just 27 fewer than in 12 games last season. That's also the most points an Auburn team has scored in the first four games of any season.
