MILLBROOK, AL (WSFA) - Police have identified a dead body found Tuesday night in Millbrook. Jason Abram, 35, of Montgomery was found dead in a house off Sandtown Road.

Hundreds of nearby residents watched and waited, wondering what happened as police officers gathered evidence from the home. "We don't know what's going on," says nearby resident Lilley Wilson at the time.

Police now believe Abram was killed during an attempted robbery at the home. If true, investigators plan to pursue a capitol murder charge. Several leads were being followed, though police wouldn't comment on them.

Police say they received the call around 6pm Tuesday night. They arrived at the house and no one was there. Then, they found Abram's body, hit with a single gun shot.

According to authorities, the owner of the house came home while police were there.  Officers placed the man in the back of a police car but didn't arrest him.

Police are also investigating if the incident is related to a fire that destroyed a trailer just days ago and right next to the home where they found the body.

Right now they aren't ruling anything out, but say both are under investigation.  They don't know how long the man has been dead. They also don't know how the caller got the information and are questioning both the owner of the home and the person who called them.

Lilley Wilson's shocked something like this happened in her neighborhood. "It's sad.  Everybody is some kin around here.  Everybody is some kin around here.  Ain't no strangers.  Everybody knows one another. We ain't no strangers."
