MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - Two major events in the River Region this weekend provided a big boost the local economy -- The Navistar LPGA Classic in Prattville and the Half-Marathon in Montgomery.
Both events brought thousands of people to area, and that meant most hotels were booked solid.
Montgomery Mayor Todd Strange says the city came out the winner of both events.
Strange said, "On average, if you stay in a hotel, it's worth about a hundred and sixty nine dollars per person to that entity, and if you do the arithmetic on that, we have be close to a million dollars impact. And that then turns over three or four times."
Both events are planning to return to the River Region next year.
