MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - The owner of a company that has a $13 million no-bid computer contract with the state Finance Department says the firm has paid all state and federal income taxes and will purchase a city of Montgomery business license if needed.
City of Montgomery finance officials said Friday that the company, Paragon Source LLC., does not have a business license on file. Gov. Bob Riley's administration has been questioned about the contract because the company does not have a listed telephone number or Web site. Its headquarters is in a home in northern Virginia. The company president, Janet Lauderdale, said in an e-mail to The Associated Press that she believed the company did not need a business license in Montgomery. It has one in Virginia.
