Prattville fountain turns pink Friday

PRATTVILLE, AL (WSFA) - The City of Prattville is 'thinking pink' and asks all breast cancer survivors to join in a celebration of survival!

The City of Prattville plans a gathering around the Historical Fountain at Heritage Park on Friday, October 16. The event starts at 7am, The fountain will be turned pink to aknowledge local breast cancer survivors.

The city says while Mayor Jim Byard Jr. and survivors turn the water in the fountain pink other local survivors will release pink balloons as a symbol of "letting go" of the cancer.

"I am proud that the City of Prattville has chosen to participate in this event," said Mayor Byard. "I invite folks to come out at this bittersweet time as we remember those who lost their life to breast cancer, but also as we praise and celebrate with survivors, all while bringing needed awareness," continued the Mayor.
