27 percent absent at Greenville school

GREENVILLE, AL (WSFA) - The H1N1 flu virus is taking its toll on a lot of schools, but perhap no school is being hit quite so hard as Fort Dale Academy in Greenville.

WSFA 12 News spoke with the head master of the school Monday and he said approximately 20 percent of his students, or around 90 kids, were out sick with the virus.

A check Tuesday confirmed the virus is having a larger impact. An additional 27 students were marked 'absent' on the roles bringing the absentee rate to a whopping 27 percent. The private school teaches some 475 kids each day.

The head master still says he's not planning to close the school, but he did cancel the junior varsity football game set for Tuesday night. Also cancled, the pee-wee and termite games.
