DOTHAN, AL (WSFA) -   Troy University's Dothan Campus is looking to expand in the coming year.

Right now this is the only entrance onto the Dothan campus but that will soon change.

The Houston County Commission approved in kind work to help build a second entrance onto the campus.

"The county has volunteered to do a turnkey with us," says Gayla White, Regional Director of Institutional Development.

The new entrance will be built off of Brannon Stand Road.

Currently with only one entrance during emergencies if those lanes are blocked it can hamper services.

"This brings a road in off of Brannon Stand into the back portion of the campus it gives us an additional access to the campus for emergencies but it also makes it more efficient for our students that come out here," adds White.

And it provides the university with more options for future growth.

"I think as the program grows and we develop more programs to bring here to the Dothan campus then we are going to need room for that future growth and this is just setting that plan up as we move along with it," explains White.

University officials hope to begin communication in the coming year.
