ABBEVILLE, AL (WSFA) - The Henry County Sheriff's office/Abbeville Police Task Force says it has solved two theft cases with the arrests of five people.

Rodney Bernard Danzey, 39, and John L. Corbitt, 62, both of Abbeville, were arrested on theft of property 2nd degree charges after they allegedly stole an antique steal wheel tractor from County Road 214 north of Abbeville.

Investigators found the tractor, which had been stripped down for metal, at a Dothan scrap metal facility. Both men were taken to the Henry County Jail on bonds of $5,000.00 each. Authorities say one other arrest is pending in this case.

In a separate incident, investigators charged three Eufaula men with theft of property 2nd degree. Donald Eric Pippen (Sehl), 29, Robert Chase Qualls, 26, and Timothy Wayne Elmore, 20, all of Lumpkin Drive were arrested after investigators say they stole a $600.00 aurger posthole digger from property located at County Road 200 in Abbeville.

Investigators say the suspects were confronted by the property owner and then fled the scene. Deputies later found the the suspects' vehicle at the intersection of State Highway 95 and County Road 97. Deputies took Qualls and Elmore into custody at the scene while Pippen fled the scene on foot.

K-9 tracking units from Ventress Prison were called into assist deputies in locating the last suspect.  Pippen, a fugitive from Georgia, was found a short time later near the site of the traffic stop in the top of a 30-foot tree. All three men were placed in the Henry County Jail with $5,000.00 bonds each.
