AUBURN, AL (WSFA) - The City of Auburn Public Safety Department's Fire Division got good news Friday: money is on the way.

The division is receiving a $6,000 grant to purchase hand-held walkie-talkies for personnel.

Representative Mike Hubbard will be at the City Council meeting October 20 to present a check to the mayor.

Money was unavailable in the city's budget to make the purchases. "I appreciate the outstanding job the City of Auburn does and will continue to work to obtain additional funds from the state to assist them..." Rep. Hubbard said.

Hubbard helped secure the money from a Community Service Grant through the state of Alabama.
