Folkston, GA (WSFA) - The missing body of an 7-year-old Florida girl has been positvely identified as Somner Thompson. Thompson went missing Monday on her way home from school in Orange Park, Florida. Wednesday the body of a female child was found by Clay County Sheriff Rick Beseler in a landfill about an hour away from little Thompson's home near Folkston, Georgia. Beseler told reporters, "We hope and pray that it's not the body of Somer, but the garbage that was brought into that area ... was collected in the Orange Park area." Following an autopsy this morning, forensics have confirmed the body is Somner Thompson. Her parents have been notified by the authorities.
