Partnership formed to spur economy in Black Belt

UNIONTOWN, AL (WSFA) - A group of businesses in Alabama's Black Belt are focusing on a new way to make money. Deer camps, fishing lodges and bird preserves are banning together to attract more hunters and anglers to the region.

Right now, many hunters and outdoorsmen are heading to Arkansas, South Dakota and Montana for their outdoor activities.

If the partnership works, it'd be good news for many Black Belt counties who have struggled with economic development for years. The region also has the highest unemployment rates in the state.
