MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - Dr. Jay Wolf is no stranger to the capital city. He's pastor of one of the largest churches in the Montgomery area. His family's faith and teamwork earned them a "Families of the Year" nomination from the Family Guidance Center of Alabama.

In Pastor Wolf's office you'll find lots of pictures that document his family's life. There are snapshots of family gatherings, graduation and wedding ceremonies and even family trips to places like London. One photo shows family members lined up in from on the famous Big Ben clock! "God has given us the gift of a health family," explains Wolf from his office in Montgomery First Baptist Church. "We don't realize that so much of what we have is a gift from God. We did not do it. We feel like we did not create blessings. We collect blessings."

They're a collection of blessings he shares from the pulpit and his family shares in their daily living. "We're all regular people," said the pastor's wife, Ruth. "We just work hard to be Jesus' people, and to be people that look out for others. Use the Golden Rule..."

Almost two years ago others found themselves looking out for the Wolf family. Daughter-in-law Katherine suffered a life-changing stroke that required a 13-hour brain surgery. She was in California at the time. She's still undergoing therapy to learn to walk.

"Because I'm still in high school," explained daughter Alex, " I lived at home while my mom was in California, and so I had a lot of moms in Montgomery. Alex said it made her realize the caliber of people in Montgomery.

With the travels to California and Dr. Wolf's schedule, the family is busy. When they can, they always try to make time for dinner. It's a time when they can unwind and celebrate.

"I think that's the bottom line when it comes to our family, the Lord loves us and we love each other," admits daughter Mary Austin. "We're really united as a family."

Pastor Wolf says his family loves to travel. They've visited nearly every state in the union.
