Mobile's new cruise ship arrives a day late

MOBILE, Ala. (AP) - Mobile's new cruise ship arrived a day late due to tropical storm Ida and prepared for a quick departure for the Mexican coast. The Fantasy from Carnival Cruise Lines was due to arrive Tuesday for its first cruise, but that was pushed back to Wednesday morning. Upon arrival Wednesday, it immediately prepared to leave on its first cruise to Cozumel and Costa Maya.

The Fantasy carries more than 2,000 passengers and was previously based in New Orleans. It replaced a smaller ship, the Holiday, in Mobile. The Carnival Triumph succeeded the Fantasy in New Orleans.
