TROY, AL (WSFA) - Alabama State Troopers are investigating a car accident involving one of their own.

The crash happened near the 62 mile marker on U.S. 231 northbound in Pike County Monday afternoon as the trooper attempted to pull over a vehicle.

Trooper Kevin Cook tells WSFA 12 News the unidentified officer had his blue lights activated and was attempting to turn his marked patrol car around when it was struck by a Dodge pick-up truck.

Medics transported both to Troy Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Both the patrol car and pick-up truck sustained heavy damage, but neither victim suffered life-threatening injuries.

The accident remains under investigation by Troopers.
