MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - Two Montgomery Public Schools get a huge financial boost for a new foreign language program. The U.S. State Department awarded a three year grant totaling more than 212-thousand dollars to Lamp and Baldwin Magnet schools to fund a Mandarin Chinese class. Over one billion people worldwide speak Mandarin Chinese, making it the most widely spoken Chinese.

Both schools will temporarily share the same teacher and instructional materials.
