WASHINGTON, D.C. (WSFA) - Health care reform passed a critical test Saturday evening in Washington.

Without a single vote to spare, senate democrats won the fight to move forward and debate a sweeping health care reform bill.

The debate will begin after Thanksgiving.

A few democrats are already threatening to halt the bill before the final vote.

"I've already alerted the leader and I'm promising my colleagues that I'm prepared to vote against moving to the next stage of consideration as long as government run public option is included," stated Arkansas democratic senator Blanche Lincoln.

President Obama applauded the senate vote and said he looks forward to a "thorough and productive debate."
