San Antonio, TX (WSFA) - The Army psychiatrist accused of the Fort Hood shootings had his first court hearing. Major Nidal Hasan court hearing was held in his hospital room over the weekend. Hasan is currently under pre-trial confinement meaning the military can move him to another hospital or to jail. He is also stripped of some rights of normal hospital patients.
Hasan is charged with 13 counts of murder, but his attorney says, "Americans should not be quick to judge."
Hasan understood the charges against him and was able to speak during the hearing. His attorney said, "he is still in severe pain in the ICU."
