Bama's defense rolling, Auburn's struggling

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) - The Iron Bowl will feature one defense that is filled with stars and another one battling depth issues.

No. 2 Alabama enters Friday's game leading the nation in total and pass efficiency defense and ranking second in scoring and run defense. A thin Auburn group has allowed more points than any other Southeastern Conference defense and has struggled in the fourth quarter.

Auburn coach Gene Chizik said an Alabama defense led by Terrence Cody, Rolando McClain and Javier Arenas has talent, coaching and depth.

Alabama's Nick Saban says the Tigers play defense hard and with toughness. He says they've "improved tremendously," especially in the secondary.

Auburn's star is end Antonio Coleman, who leads the SEC in sacks and tackles for loss.
