MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - Montgomery launches a new program to protect the city's pipes. The city is partnering up with Southern ECO LLC. to turn used cooking grease into bio diesel fuel. The city recently had to replace a pipe because it was literally clogged with grease.

River region residents can take their used cooking oil to Hampstead, a new development near the intersection of Taylor Road and U.S. Hwy 231, from Thanksgiving to New Year's Day for recycle.

During the holiday season it is reported that the average household waste increases by more than 25 percent.
