Ida damage totals are in

Gulf Shores and Orange Beach, AL (WSFA) -  Tropical storm Ida raked up millions of dollars in damage. The cities of Gulf Shores and Orange Beach were stripped of several hundred thousand cubic yards of sand from their manmade shoreline. It could cost 5-million dollars to repair.

The two beach communities spent nearly 25-million in 2005 to enlarge the beach.
