DOTHAN, AL (WSFA) – A Dothan man is in jail under a $7.25 million dollar bond and police say he's the man responsible for a string of armed robberies dating back to November.
Dothan police say Victor Lee Dozier robbed a gas station late Sunday night, minutes later two detectives spotted Dozier near downtown where they attempted to stop him but he fled leading police on a chase.
"We had a description of a medium sized four door red vehicle, and that is what he was driving, and that is what they spotted coming in to town and when they turned around he ran," says Larry Draughon Interim Chief of Police.
The chase ended after Dozier turned down cottonwood road there he hit another car causing both to wreck.
"No one was seriously injured in the wreck they did seek some medical attention in the other car they had minor injuries," adds Draughon.
During their investigation police say Dozier confessed to robbing three restaurants, three other gas stations.
"The evidence was there we just had to find out who was doing it and once we captured him and tied everything together and he confessed to the other robberies," says Detective Chris Barbaree of the Dothan Police Department.
Dozier is now facing seven counts of armed robbery and one count of attempting to elude police.
