MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - A meeting is set for next week to try to come up with a solution to the "Water War" among Alabama, Georgia, and Florida. The governors of all three states will meet December 15th in Montgomery for the first face to face talk in two years.
During 2007, Alabama officials fired back at their Georgia counterparts over the amount of water flowing into Alabama from Lake Lanier.
Alabama feared the decrease water supply would lead to a dangerous drought. The states took the matter to Washington D.C. In July, a federal judge ruled that Georgia had less power than it thought to divert water from Lake Lanier into Atlanta.
Since the ruling, the judge has given the states and Congress until 2012 to reach an agreement.
