Dothan, AL (WSFA) – Dothan's sales tax revenues are still down, but city leaders say after nine consecutive months of declines, they're starting to see a light at the end of the tunnel.

In November, collections were only around $7,500 less than this time last year.

City Manager Mike West says, considering the this year's economic trends, it's a step in the right direction.

West said, "We have to look at it very positively where if we could continue on a track where we're getting revenue on a level at about the same we got last year, it would be a very positive thing for the city."

City officials also say that several new businesses and a shopping center will open soon, which will help with revenue and unemployment.
