DOTHAN, AL (WSFA) – The group of citizens that will help hand out the charitable donations from Country Crossing bingo operation is starting to take shape.

During their meeting Monday the Houston County Commission appointed members to the Advisory Board for the Houston County Foundation.  The foundation is group set up to distribute the money to charities.

"They will have a very important role and help make recommendations on behave of the entities applying for this money and helping the community," said Matt Parker, President of the Houston County Foundation.

All the revenues collected from the bingo operation at Country Crossing are handled by the Houston Economic Development Association.

They pay all operating costs at Country Crossing and what's left over is given to the Houston County Foundation, which distributes the money to charities.

"We have to run this foundation in accordance to the IRS rules that govern such foundations so we will be looking at eligible entities to apply, 502 C3 organizations of course government entities and school systems," adds Parker.

The Houston County Foundation will begin accepting applications from charities starting in May of next year.
