MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - As the next legislation session approaches in January, many lawmakers feel gambling will be a topic of discussion as revenue for the state. The issue of a lottery has come up in discussion before, but failed.

Auburn-Montgomery economist Dr. Keivan Deravi says, "this is not the time to raise taxes." Deravi considers gambling a tax on the poor.

The next legislature begins January 12th.
