Prattville City Council votes to extend services contract

Prattville city police will continue to protect Prattville High School.  A unanimous vote by the city council Tuesday night extends a contract to provide security to the school.  The contract also extends sanitation services to people living in district three.

The current contract expires in about two weeks.  Some concerns were expressed over providing security to Prattville High even though it is outside the city limits.  City Council President Dean Argo says if the Sheriff's Department had to take over it would hurt the department because they do not have as much manpower as Prattville Police.

The new contract will last until 2014.
