Andalusia sees economic bright spot

ANDALUSIA, AL (WSFA) - With all the news of job and budget cuts, there's a glimmer of hope that the economy is turning around.

The city of Andalusia says it's actually seeing an increase in sales tax collections.

Mayor Earl Johnson says the city's sales taxes are up from this time last year. October figures were up 8.7 percent from the same time last year. November sales taxes jumped 14 percent from the same time last year.

Mayor Johnson says the numbers make a statement on the strength of Andalusia's economy.
