Ala governor to tour flooded areas in Brewton

BREWTON, Ala. (AP) - Gov. Bob Riley plans to visit areas in Brewton that were damaged by flooding earlier this week.

Riley is scheduled to meet with local officials in Brewton in Escambia County and talk to news reporters at 1:45 p.m. Friday in the Escambia County Emergency Operating Center.

Numerous homes and businesses suffered damage from the heavy rains in south Alabama. More severe weather is expected in the state later this week.

On Wednesday, Riley declared a state of emergency in Escambia, Dale, Crenshaw and Covington Counties because of flooding and severe weather.
