MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - The Montgomery Public School Board gets some financial relief in its budget. The MPS approved a $270-thousand contract for the purchase of former superintendent Carlinda Purcell's home.

That's about $50-thousand less than the board paid for the home when Purcell left it. School officials say it is the first step in lifting a big financial burden.

The buyer hopes to close the deal by New Year's Eve.
