BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - The UAB men's basketball team has climbed into the national rankings for the first time in nearly three years.
The Blazers were ranked No. 24 in the Associated Press poll released Monday.
UAB has won 10 straight games and at 11-1 is off to the fourth-best start in school history. The Blazers beat two ranked teams in a week span, then-No. 25 Cincinnati and then-No. 20 Butler, both by double digits.
The ranking will be quickly put to the test with road games at Virginia and Arkansas this week.
UAB finished the 2005-06 season ranked No. 25 but hadn't cracked the rankings since.
The Blazers have been led by Elijah Millsap, who is averaging 15.4 points and leads Conference USA with 9.8 rebounds a game.
