Through Thursday, December 31 people who give at Goodwill locations in the River Region can expect money back from Uncle Sam in the form of an end of the year tax write-off.
Goodwill uses the revenue from donations to fund career development services through its Workforce Development Department.
The department offers people with disabilities resume writing skills, interviewing skills, how to act on the job and other skills they need in order to find and keep a job.
"End the holiday season and start the New Year off right by giving the gift of hope," says Kristen Sherer, Goodwill Industries' Public Relations Director. "Every donation to Goodwill helps make 2010 a better year for hundreds of individuals who need job training and other Goodwill career services."
Goodwill says it accepts clothing, household items, books, furniture and even holiday gifts that weren't quite right.
Donations are sold in nine retail stores around Central Alabama.
People in the River Region can drop off donations at one of the three locations: 900 Airbase Blvd. and 5326 Atlanta Hwy. in Montgomery, and in Historic Downtown Prattville, at 155 West Main Street. For more information call (334) 263-4633.
