VERBENA, AL (WSFA) - Two people are in custody, accused of shooting and killing a man in Chilton County.

The suspects, identified as 21-year-old Christopher Kroeger and 18-year-old Joshua Ready, are charged with murder in the death of 18-year-old Steven Dorough of Marbury.

Chief Deputy Shane Mayfield of the Chilton Co. Sheriff's Department said the incident happened around dawn Sunday, December 27. A witness reported the crime to Prattville police, who in turn called Chilton County authorities.

Sheriff's deputies went to the scene, a residence in the 8000 block of Chilton Co. Rd. 59, where they found Kroeger and Ready.
