PASADENA, CA (WSFA) - The Crimson Tide isn't wasting any time in Pasadena. The football team held their first practice Saturday and now, they are only 4 days away from the national championship game.
WSFA 12 sports anchors Jeff Shearer and Derek Steyer were with the team and their fans for they continue our special coverage of the 'Showdown in Tinseltown'.
The Alabama Crimson Tide worked out at Orange Coast College, it was the team's second work out since arriving in southern California.
Alabama's top defensive leaders, along with Texas' top offensive stars, spoke to reporters about the Texas offensive line's ability to give quarterback Colt McCoy enough time to run the spread offense. The Texas offensive line was clearly overmatched against Nebraska in the Big 12 Championship game.
"I really think that was a moment for our team that really brought us together because not very many things went our way...but ultimately in the end we found a way to win", stated McCoy. "For us, we have to understand that in this game there's going be times where you're going have some opportunities to make plays and at those you'll going have to be at your best and take advantage of those," added McCoy.
"We're a very good team and we're going face a very good team...we got our work cut out for us," said Alabama linebacker Rolando McClain. "We're going to play our type of football and just see the outcome", added McClain.
The WSFA 12 News Sports Team will have updates from Pasadena during every newscast leading up to the national championship game. They'll be covering the Crimson Tide's coaches, players and the many Alabama fans who made the trip out to Los Angeles.
