Georgia super speeders law goes into effect

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - If you're driving to Atlanta any time soon, you better watch your speed or it'll cost you.

A new law went into effect that adds an extra two hundred dollar fine to people going over 85 miles per hour.

"Georgia has had a reputation as a state that people speed and get away with it. What the super speeder law does is set the upper limit of what we're going to tolerate," stated Bob Dallas with the Georgia Highway Safety Department.

Cops say it's a good way to get people to slow down and that they've been using signs to let people know about the new law.
