MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - With day only days approaching the 2010 Alabama legislative session, some hot topics and tough decisions are already highlighted for debate.
The upcoming session promises to be like no other. Legislators will be forced to do what they hate doing most during an election year, which is cutting jobs, getting rid of programs, and/or raising taxes.
Speaker of the House Seth Hammett says, "Less there is a change in attitude, from last year to this year among the members, you're not going to find sufficient votes to regulate tax and expand gaming."
After last year's economic downturn, gambling could come up as a source of new revenue to fund programs in risk.
The first day of the session is January 12th.
