TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) - Thousands of cheering Alabama football fans have greeted the national champion Crimson Tide football team as it arrived home from the BCS Championship game.
Coach Nick Saban was met with loud cheers at Tuscaloosa airport Friday night as he walked down the airplane stairs ahead of the team after a charter flight from California. The team buses got a police escort back to campus on a cold night with temperatures around 20 degrees. A parade to celebrate the school's 13th national victory is in the works. Fans can already buy all the national championship gear they want - many stores started selling hats and shirts as soon as the BCS title game ended.
A party that started after the game lasted into the wee hours in Tuscaloosa's strip area near the university. No major problems were reported.
