Tommy Tuberville heading to Texas Tech

Tommy Tuberville to be named as the next head football coach at Texas Tech Tommy Tuberville to be named as the next head football coach at Texas Tech

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - Former Auburn coach Tommy Tuberville will be named the next football coach at Texas Tech, according to Pete Christy, sports director at our Raycom Media news partner KCBD.

Christy was the first to break the story this morning.

The deal is for five years and the range of $2 million a year.

A news conference is set for Sunday at 3 P.M. eastern in Lubbock, Texas.

Tuberville's family is flying to Lubbock Saturday night.

Tuberville, 55, became a strong candidate when it was determined he would not insist on hiring his own staff.

He also will not cost Tech a contract buyout.
