MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - Montgomery Police are investigating their first and second murders of the year.

Officers found a man and woman dead inside a home this morning on Michigan Avenue, that's in the Chisholm community.

Around 8:45 this morning, police discovered that gruesome crime scene.

A 28 year old female had been shot in the leg and shoulder. A 34 year old male was found dead from an apparent gunshot wound to the neck.

Police say it appears to be drug related and the suspect forced his way inside the home.

The woman's best friend spoke with WSFA 12 News, but she asked not to be identified.

The woman says she was just in the house twenty minutes before the shooting eating dinner with her friends.

She also told us two young children were in the home at the time of the shooting, but they were unharmed.

"The kids were just left unattended with no one and they saw their mom and dad just laid out in blood and they can't do anything, just helpless and they sat there for numerous hours in the house before someone came in there and rescued them. That could have been me in there... me and my children as well," stated the witness.

Montgomery Police say they feel confident the community will reach out and help them solve these murders.

As part of their neighborhood enhancement program, they say they've developed close relationships in the Chisholm community.

Currently there are no suspects in the case.

If you have any information, contact the Montgomery Police Department at 241-2651. They also have a Secret Witness line if you'd like to remain anonymous. That number is 262-4200.
