Dothan, AL (WSFA) - The controversy surrounding electronic bingo at Country Crossing is prompting local leaders to reach out to Governor Riley.
Houston County Commissioners, Dothan's Mayor, and the Chamber of Commerce President sent a letter to the Governor and the Chairman of his Gaming Task Force, David Barber.
You'll recall, Country Crossing narrowly escaped a state raid recently thanks to a last-minute restraining order.
Now, community leaders are asking the Governor to address the question of the legality of the machines in a more "civil" manner.
They say Houston County is not a "hotbed of corruption and crime" as some have implied.
A hearing on the matter is planned for Tuesday, January 20th.
