HAITI (WSFA) - The country of Haiti experienced a huge earthquake today.
The earthquake demolished buildings and left countless people dead or injured.
Scientists say it's the largest quake ever recorded in the he area, with a magnitude of 7.0.
Several homes and buildings, including a hospital, collapsed.
No word tonight on a death toll but already the U.S. is sending help.
"We will be providing both civilian and military disaster relief and humanitarian assistance and our prayers are with the people who have suffered, their families and their loved ones," stated Hillary Clinton, Secretary of State.
The state department, the U.S. agency for international development and U.S. southern command are coordinating efforts.
