MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - The governor's gambling task force has gone back to court in another attempt to get the court's permission to raid the electronic bingo operation at Country Crossing in Dothan.
Attorneys for the Task Force on Illegal Gambling asked the Supreme Court to lift a judge's order that blocked the task force from conducting a pre-dawn raid at Country Crossing last week. The task force filed a motion with the Supreme Court saying the Houston County Commission and a local economic development authority did not have legal standing to ask Circuit Judge P.B. McLauchlin to stop the raid.
The original search warrant allowing the raid expired last weekend, but on Thursday the task force asked the Supreme Court to grant it more time. The court did not immediately rule.
