2 killed in Alabama plane crash tentatively identified

The two who died when a small plane crashed near homes in north Alabama have been identified as a physician from Illinois and a woman from Tennessee.

Madison police said Tuesday the dead were tentatively identified as Dr. John J. White of Decatur, Ill., who was the pilot, and Lisa Marie Mattix of Spring Hill, Tennessee, the passenger.

The bodies have been sent to a forensics lab for positive identification.

The plane went down Monday afternoon in a subdivision of Madison,Alabama, with wreckage near a home under construction. No one on the ground was harmed.
