MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - A young mother gunned down inside her car. Nearly three years later, her family finally has some closure. The jury has now convicted the man charged in her death.
Ted Chaistain was riding with his fiance, Emilee Buch, when she was gunned down inside her car on Boyce Street in the Highland Park Community in 2007.
A week later officers arrested three young men. Chase Bishop was one of them.
Fast forward to January 2010 and a jury has convicted Chase Bishop.
Emilee's parents were in the courtroom for the verdict.
Bishop's attorney, Chip Cleveland, said his client admitted he was involved in the shooting. "He wishes he could take it back...he was involved with two other men," stated Cleveland.
Those two other accepted a plea deal and testified against Bishop.
Cleveland said that those men committed the same crime and his client should have been offered the same deal.
But Emilee's family and friends say justice was served.
Bishop's attorneys say they will appeal. In the meantime, Emilee's family and friends hope their three year ordeal is over.
Ted Chaistain and his sister were also hurt in the shooting.
