U.S. Officials Beef Up Inspections Of Food Supply As War Breaks Out In Iraq

United States officials say the risk of a terrorist attack has increased now that the war has started. That's why the state and nation remain under code orange or high alert.

The head of the nation's food supply says steps have been taken to protect America's food from terrorism. Agriculture Secretary, Anne Veneman, says steps have been taken to monitor the food chain and protect the public. Now she says even tighter security and stricter guidelines are in place. She says the United States is also working closely with the Department of Homeland Security to improve communication and cooperation between the two agencies.
