A tent - it may not sound like much to you but it's home for earthquake victims in Haiti. "It was a surprise.," said Michelle Browder at Montgomery Rescue Mission.
A Montgomery company, MMI Outdoor, donated 150 tents and other supplies to the group. The mission will deliver it all to victims in Haiti. "The people are sleeping outside. It is important for everyone to have some place to stay," said Browder.
The Haitian government reports a million Haitians were forced from their homes in the Port-au-Prince area alone. Right now, many Haitians are living in tent cities made from sheets and blankets. The Montgomery Rescue Mission hopes to bring them some relief and comfort. Browder says, "As a missionary, you are supposed to be there in a time of crisis."
The mission is still in need of monetary donations. To help call 834-0551.
