MONTGOMERY, AL - High school students who lack credits won't have to wait until the summer to make-up a course. Beginning in February, students who need to retake one of the core classes required to graduate may pre-register for the Evening Academy on February 1-5, 2010 during school hours at their zoned school with the counselor. Registration with payment will take place at Carver High School on February 4, 5 and 8, from 4:30-7:30 p.m.
MPS and private school students who reside in Montgomery County may enroll at a cost of $260 per credit hour. Students in surrounding counties may enroll at a cost of $360 per credit hour. Both private school students and students who live outside Montgomery County will be accepted if space is available.
The available courses are: English 10,English 11, English 12, World History 1500+, U.S. History to 1877, U.S. History 1877 to Present, American Government/Economics, Algebra 1, Algebra 1A, Algebra 1B, Algebra 2/Trigonometry, Algebra III/w Statistics, Algebra Connections, Geometry, Biology, Physical Science, Environmental Science, General Chemistry, Zoology, Botany, and Alabama High School Graduation Exam Review.
Classes will be held February 8-May 6 from 4:30-7:30 p.m., Monday-Thursday at Carver High School. A student may not miss more than three days for any reason and must adhere to the policies in the MPS Code of Student Behavior. No classes will be held on Presidents Day, February 15 or Spring Break Week, March 15-19.
Students are strongly encouraged to pre-register for the Evening Academy at their school February 1-5. Fees must be paid at the time of registration at Carver High School by money order or cashier's check. No personal checks will be accepted. Limited tuition assistance will be available.
