MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - Gov. Bob Riley is headed to Washington for meetings with President Obama and Secretary of Education Arne Duncan.
Riley is due to leave the Montgomery airport Wednesday morning. He said he will be part of a bipartisan group of governors who will discuss energy with the president.
Then he will meet with the secretary of education to discuss charter schools. Riley is asking the Alabama Legislature to legalize charter schools in the state. While Riley is in Washington, budget committees from the Alabama House and Senate will meet together Wednesday to review charter schools.
