AUM awarded $750,000 for GIS program

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA)- $750,000 is awarded to the Auburn Montgomery's Geographic Information Systems program.  The grant will be used for software and equipment in support of the AUM GIS program.

"The grant is applied for every two years", says Dr. Terry Winemiller, associate professor of Sociology. To apply for the award, Winemiller designed teaching exercises, instructing students how to use Intergraph Corporation's software and products.

The grant also includes a one year license to run Intergraph Corporation software and products for each student enrolled in the program, which is equivalent to $1,400 for each student. As long as a student is enrolled in the program they will continue to have access for up to three years.
