PHENIX CITY, AL (WTVM) – A Phenix City man that has been connected to a murder in Dayton, OH was found dead in his apartment on Riverchase Drive in Phenix City shortly after noon on Wednesday.

It appears 43-year-old Tommy Swint's wounds were self-inflicted.  We're told Swint was indicted in Dayton, OH for the 1991 murder Tina Ivery just hours before the Alabama Bureau of Investigation tried to arrest him.

According to a press release from the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, Ivery's partially-nude body was found on December 17, 1991 in a trash pile off Dayton-Liberty Road in Jefferson Township, OH. Reports indicate she was strangled to death.

A re-examination uncovered DNA evidence that led investigators to Swint. Click here to read a press release from Montgomery County, OH.

Investigators say before living in Alabama, Swint was a police officer in Trotwood, OH, but was fired for disciplinary reasons. For the past few years, Swint was working as a security officer in Phenix City.
